King University Mission and Values

Integrity

According to King University (2019), integrity is defined as “the ability to walk morally upright in all actions and communications." During the course of this program, I have upheld my integrity to the fullest. My faith and my family instilled in me morals that I have followed throughout the course of my adult life. These morals taught me to have a strong work ethic and to have integrity when treating patients and their families.

Commitment
According to King University (2019), commitment is defined as “the dedication and service to patients, the profession, collaboration, and continued learning while holding oneself to the highest standards of performance and accountability.” I am committed to always providing the best possible care to my patients. Since the first day I stepped onto the floor as a nurse extern, I was committed to learning, researching, and striving to be the best healthcare provider to my patients.
Service

According to King University (2019), service is defined as “committing oneself to assist others to serve others and glorify God.” I have a service to my community to promote the health and wellbeing of children. I was able to participate in sports physicals during primary care clinicals to help give back to my community. In the future, I would like to participate in more ways to give back to the children in our community through doing free health promotion programs such as free vaccination clinics, sport physicals, and health maintenance.

Accountability

According to King University (2019), accountability is defined as “making a decision based upon a knowledgeable understanding of the circumstances, acting on that decision, supporting the decision with evidence-based rationale and reason, and accepting responsibility for the outcome.” I am accountable to deliver the best possible care to my patients and their families. I owe it to my patients to be accountable in the delivery of their care to meet health outcomes.

Civility

According to King University (2019), civility is defined as “a polite, respectful, and purposefully kind verbal and non-verbal interpersonal communications and behaviors.”  I always strive to place myself in my patient's shoes. I try to imagine how scared and anxious they must feel especially patients of a different ethnicity. I sympathize with each one of my patients and hold my civility to the highest degree when providing care for my patients.

Compassion

According to King University (2019), compassion is defined as “the feeling of deep sympathy or sorrow for another who is experiencing perceived or actual challenges or suffering, with the desire to alleviate the suffering.” I have always believed that my compassion towards others is one of my strongest assets. I like to say I inherited this trait from my mother. She was never one to turn anybody away and provided compassion to even the cruelest of individuals. This is the nurse that I've always strived to be. I am committed to providing the upmost compassion and commitment to my patients as an APRN.
